On Saturday, August 2nd, 11 members of the board met to envision the 2025-2026 year of Maine ACDA. The day was filled with creative conversation, joyful laughter, and a shared commitment to bringing the best programming and professional development to the choral directors and singers in Maine. Here’s a peak at some of our initiatives this year:
ConnectME to Community: Our programming for this year will continue our theme of connecting directors and singers across Maine, with an increased focus on our role in the greater community. Programs such as school invitational mass choirs, community sings, and press outreach will be the main focus of this mission.
Make Room for Artistry: We also highlighted the need for a greater effort in supporting the artistry of Maine directors and we’ll be building advocacy tools for folks to spend less time proving the worth of their programs and more time connecting with the music and singers.
Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, & Belonging Initiatives: We will be looking at how diversity manifests in Maine choral music and how to best support our singers and audiences with accessibility (diversity and equity). We will also look at the role our organization plays in supporting all directors and singers, putting specific effort into recruiting and supporting members of the elementary/youth choir community and intergenerational/senior choir community. We are also developing more programming for our choirs of worship, putting specific emphasis on collaboration and interfaith singing experiences.
