Chorus Teacher

Part Time Position  (⅗ Time with Benefits)

Fall 2025 Opening

Position Summary

CRMS is looking for a part-time chorus teacher who loves working in a team-oriented environment, enjoys teaching young adolescents and is proficient in choral conducting and keyboard skills. The ideal candidate will be able to present musical concepts and vocal pedagogy in a sequential way by planning and implementing weekly lessons, sectionals, and running full group rehearsals that lead to biannual concerts. The position is Wednesdays and Thursdays, 9am-3:45pm and Tuesdays and Fridays 11:30am-3:45pm.

Responsibilities

  • Create and implement a comprehensive choral curriculum that aligns with educational standards at a developmentally appropriate level.
  • Lead weekly rehearsals, sectionals, and full group rehearsals.
  • Teach musical concepts and vocal techniques aligned with best practices in choral pedagogy.
  • Prepare students for concerts, festivals, and other public performances, including stage presence and concert etiquette.
  • Collaborate with school and district teaching staff for musical events and programming.
  • Attend staff meetings and professional development days.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment.
  • Evaluate student progress and adapt instruction to meet student needs.
  • Effectively communicate with students, peers, parents, and administrators.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Knowledge of the diverse ways in which students learn and develop
  • Ability to adapt lesson plans based on student needs within different learning groups
  • Ability to engage with students, home, school, colleagues, and the community to support student learning and wellbeing

Requirements

  • State of Maine teaching certification with Music K-12 (614) Endorsement required.
  • Background check, including fingerprinting

Pay and Benefits

  • Pay starts at $51,151 (step B -0) annually with possibility of increase based on experience, within the parameters of the applicable contract
  • Health Insurance (including Vision), 60% of the Choice Plus Plan premium is paid by the District
  • Dental Insurance (100% Employee paid)
  • 9 Sick Days
  • 2 Personal Days
  • FSA
  • Eligible to contribute to a 403(b) retirement plan

Camden Rockport Middle School, housed in a beautiful new building, serves just under 400 students in grades 5 – 8 from the towns of Camden and Rockport. CRMS has been implementing a Project Based Learning model of curriculum and instruction and values students’ active engagement in the learning process.
